What we store, and what we never touch
Last updated 22 August 2026
Your payout CSV never leaves your browser
The scanner reads the file locally, in the page. The CSV is not uploaded, not sent to our server, and not stored anywhere by us. That is true on the free scan and on a paid one. Close the tab without saving and nothing about that statement exists on our side.
What a saved month actually contains
When you save a month to your account, we store the summary numbers only: the platform, the month, your total error charges and how many there were, the per-category breakdown, the disputable amount and count, your total sales for the month if the statement included it, and a count of rows we could not classify. No order-level rows, no item names, no customer names or addresses, and no copy of the file.
Account and payment
Accounts are handled by Clerk, which holds your email address and sign-in details. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store card numbers. We keep a record of which plan you are on and whether it is active.
Analytics
We use PostHog, hosted in the EU, to count page views and see which parts of the product get used. It sets a first-party cookie holding a random visitor id, and it records clicks and page views. Session recording is switched off, so we never watch a replay of your screen. There are no advertising trackers on this site and we do not sell anything to anyone.
If you email us, that mail is delivered and stored through Resend so we can read and reply to it. We do not run marketing email from this product.
Deletion
Email hello@errorcharge.com and ask. We delete the account and every saved month attached to it. Where we have to keep a payment record for accounting, that record is the only thing that stays.
